Entertaiment

Something that provides pleasure, amusement, euphoria or excitement. Something that transports you to another world, makes you forget all your problems and you wish it could last forever, never end.

Oliver and Barstsch (2010) describe entertainment as an activity that is understood objectively, includes communication between text and audience from an external stimulus, offers pleasure to the audience, requires the audience for existence and occurs in a passive form.

The origin of the word entertain is uncertain, but may be from the Latin inter tenere (“to hold inside”) or perhaps the Indo-European root tenere (to stretch).
